Kognito Interactive to Highlight PTSD & Resiliency Training Simulation for Veteran Families at I/ITSEC Innovations Showcase, 11/29/11

Orlando, Florida (PRWEB) November 25, 2011

New York City-based Kognito Interactive (http://www.kognito.com), a leading developer of online role-playing simulations and serious games in the area of health, will present as part of the I/ITSEC Innovations Showcase on Tuesday, November 29 at 2:45 p.m. (booth 3201 in the West Exhibit Hall). Kognito will demonstrate its newest simulation, Family of Heroes (FOH), which is a PTSD & Resiliency training for families of returning veterans.

Using simulation built with Kognito’s proprietary Human Interaction Game Engine™, the innovative avatar-based online training, developed in collaboration with the VA NY/NJ:

allows family members to engage in virtual role-play conversations with emotionally responsive avatars to recognize signs of PTSD, depression or thoughts of suicide in their loved one, and
gives them tools to handle the immediate situation and get the veteran to seek help.

Since FOH (http://www.familyofheroes.com) was launched earlier this month, more than 45,000 New York- and New Jersey-area veterans families have accessed the training. “When one out of every three returning veterans reports symptoms of mental disorder, but fewer than half seek help, families become the front line of defense,” said Ron Goldman, Kognito’s CEO. “Using virtual role plays, this program can accelerate the time to treatment for a troubled veteran by providing family members with the skills to recognize signs of distress and to motivate the veteran to seek help.” To view a demo go to: http://www.kognito.com/ptsd
